Description
This limited edition offset lithograph on paper by aviation artist Stan Stokes is titled Flying Tigers and depicts a formation of Curtiss P-40 Warhawk aircraft from the American Volunteer Group (AVG) soaring over a coastal landscape. The print is numbered 885/1500 in pencil at the lower right corner and features the artist’s signature in the plate at the lower left. The wide bottom margin is densely populated with dozens of original pencil signatures from AVG veterans. Legible signatures include R.T. Smith, Tex Hill, Bob Neale, Carl Brown, Ed Rector, Charlie Bond, Erik Shilling, J.R. Rossi, Duke Hedman, and others. The work is housed in a dark wood frame with a gilded inner lip and is double-matted in navy blue and gold.
