Description

This collection primarily documents the career and military service of Karl Friedrich Hain, born December 25, 1897, in Berlin. The grouping includes a second-style grey cloth-covered Wehrpass for the Heer, bearing the stamps of Wehrbezirkskommando Berlin II and containing an original identification photograph of Hain in civilian clothing. A significant component of the lot is a typed service certificate (Dienstleistungszeugnis) on Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine letterhead, dated July 17, 1945, from Glucksburg. This document confirms Hain was conscripted on June 16, 1941, and served as an auxiliary worker for motor vehicle administration. It features an official Kriegsmarine eagle-and-swastika stamp and the signature of a Kapitan zur See (Ing.) as Chief of Marine Motor Vehicle Affairs. Supplemental documents for Hain include a 1947 Dresdner Bank work reference summarizing his service in both World Wars and two social insurance cards dated 1915 and 1920.The collection also contains unrelated documents for two other individuals. There is a Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) membership book (Mitgliedsbuch) with a red marbled cover and cogwheel logo for Friedrich Schoderbock, a welder born in Vienna who joined the DAF on June 1, 1940. Additionally, the lot includes a yellow folder containing a Kaufmannsgehilfenbrief (Merchant Assistant Certificate) issued to Erich Keil on March 31, 1941, by the Industrie- und Handelskammer zu Halle, bearing the national eagle seal.
