Description
This set includes a US Army M1912 pattern dismounted pistol belt and an M1916 leather holster, designed for the M1911 .45 caliber pistol. The holster is made of russet leather and features a large fold-over flap with an embossed US within an oval border. The reverse of the holster is stamped with three lines of text identifying the manufacturer as Gunnison Bros., the production year as 1917, and the military inspector initials R.J.M. The interior flap is hand-stamped with the identifier CUNO. The accompanying M1912 pattern belt is constructed of heavy olive drab cotton webbing and includes three rows of metal grommets for equipment attachment. The belt is fitted with a T-style metal buckle and adjustment hardware. Stenciled markings on the webbing include U.S. and a secondary identifier appearing as Q.S.N. or O.S.S.N.
