Description

This lot consists of a United States Army M1944 pattern three-pocket grenade carrier and one inert Mk 2 fragmentation grenade. The carrier is constructed of heavy-duty olive drab (OD#7) cotton canvas and features three vertical compartments, each secured by a top flap with two blackened brass snap fasteners. The reverse is fitted with a standard M1910 steel wire belt hook for attachment to a cartridge or pistol belt. The exterior top flap bears a faded U.S. ink stamp. The second and third pocket flaps contain handwritten black ink characters reading B-77 and B 7, likely serving as soldier laundry marks or unit identifiers. The interior of one pocket flap is stamped with manufacturer information including a Department of the Army contract prefix (DA) and the Federal Stock Number (FSN) 8465-261-5001, indicating production during the Korean War era. The included Mk 2 pineapple style fragmentation grenade is inert and intended for display or training. It features a cast iron body with a brown oxidized finish and a removable fuse assembly with a safety lever and pull ring.
