Description
Complete set of United States Army Air Forces USAAF Type B-8 flying goggles manufactured by the Polaroid Corporation, dated by contract to 1945. This set consists of the goggle assembly, the original cardboard issue box, a tan canvas carrying pouch, and the original instruction manual. The goggles are constructed with a black rubber frame embossed with the Polaroid logo and name, featuring dark-tinted plastic lenses and an adjustable elastic headband. The cardboard box lid contains printed nomenclature including Specification No. 3200, Stock No. 8300-336050, and Order No. 33-038 45-7616-A. F., further marked as Property A. F. U. S. Army. The tan canvas pouch is printed with Property U.S.A.A.F. and includes lens care instructions and a circular AN Z126 inspector stamp. The instruction manual features multi-color printing with a pilot illustration and technical guidance for the AAF Type B-8 system.
