Spring Military Aviation and Militaria Auction
Lot 229:
Description
An original WWII German Army winter fur cap, or Pelzm?tze, constructed with a thick light-colored fur exterior and a quilted cloth interior lining, designed for extreme cold-weather conditions on the Eastern Front. This example features a soft, wrap-around fur body with a padded crown and retains its period interior with visible size marking, appearing to be approximately size 57. The cap shows honest field wear, with some natural discoloration to the fur and age toning to the lining, consistent with wartime use. No insignia are present, as is often the case with issued and worn examples. A scarce and highly collectible piece of Wehrmacht winter equipment, offering strong display appeal and representing the harsh conditions faced by German troops during winter campaigns.
