Description

It illustrates the transition between the uniforms of the revolution and the new pattern of uniform introduced in 1804. It has a high ‘cutaway" front with swept back facings. like the revolutionary period garments but the facings have been simplified. Classic early coin silver washed buttons with floral backmark. Lining has function pocket in the coat tail. Tightly fitting sleeves. The standing collar appears after the revolution and increases in height into the War of 1812. This dates just after the American Revolution and is exceptionally rare.
