Description
This lot consists of a United States Navy officer service dress uniform, including a coat, vest, and service cap, conforming to the M1898 pattern designated for shore duty and landing parties. The coat is constructed from brownish-drab wool and features a high standing collar with a single-breasted front closure. The garment is trimmed with wide black mohair braid along the front edges, the hem, and the collar. The sleeves display the rank insignia for a Lieutenant, consisting of two stripes surmounted by a gold-embroidered star, indicating a Line Officer. The standing collar is fitted with metal anchor insignia. A matching vest with small uniform buttons is worn beneath the coat. The interior of the coat retains a manufacturer label from S.
