Description
A World War II era US Army officer service uniform, known as the Pinks and Greens pattern. The ensemble consists of a dark olive drab wool elastique service coat and a pair of light drab wool trousers. The four-pocket tunic features a matching fabric waist belt with a brass buckle and is fully lined with a tan rayon material. Gold-toned metal oak leaf insignia are pinned to both epaulettes, indicating the rank of Major. The collar is fitted with gilded U.S. officer devices. The right shoulder features an embroidered Tank Destroyer Forces patch depicting a black panther head crushing a tank on an orange circular field. The left shoulder bears an embroidered First Army patch. A single band of officer braid is present on each sleeve cuff. A two-ribbon bar is pinned to the left breast, containing a Good Conduct Medal ribbon and a campaign ribbon with three bronze service stars. All original brass buttons featuring the Great Seal of the United States are intact. An interior khaki-colored strap contains a black ink stamp reading XA-5273 and a handwritten ink mark reading S273 followed by an arrow-like symbol.
