Description
United States Navy Type G-1 Intermediate flight jacket, identified by the MIL-J-7823E(AS) specification. The jacket features a dark brown goatskin leather shell with a pronounced grain and a matching dark brown synthetic fur collar. The front closure consists of a heavy-duty metal zipper. The garment is constructed with two front patch pockets featuring button-down flaps and a dedicated pencil slot on the wearer’s left pocket. The waist and cuffs are finished with dark brown knit ribbing. The interior is fully lined with a brown synthetic fabric. A yellow specification label is sewn into the interior neck area with the following text: JACKET FLYER’S, INTERMEDIATE TYPE G-1, SIZE 40, MIL-J-7823E(AS), 8415-00-268-7799. A handwritten mark resembling an S or 5 is present next to the size marking. The MIL-J-7823E(AS) designation indicates the E revision of the G-1 specification introduced in 1971 for the Aviation Supply Office. The National Stock Number 8415-00-268-7799 corresponds to a Size 40 G-1 jacket.
