Description
This lot consists of a large vertical NSDAP political banner, or Hausfahne, and a contextual monochrome photograph. The banner is identified by a black ink manufacturer stamp on the hoist for Bonner Fahnenfabrik, Bonn am Rhein. It features high-quality multi-piece construction with a red cotton bunting field. The white circular roundel and the black swastika are separate pieces of fabric sewn onto the field. The top edge is finished with a reinforced white canvas header containing a braided rope loop and a metal spring-loaded clip, known as a Karabinerhaken. The associated monochrome photograph is a print of the 1931/1932 image by Rachel Posner in Kiel, showing a Hanukkah menorah with a similar banner visible in the background across the street.
