This antique match safe, also known as a vesta case, is an advertising promotional item for The Travelers Insurance Company of Hartford, Connecticut. The piece is constructed from a silver-toned metal with an ornate Art Nouveau design featuring repousse scrollwork and stylized flourishes at the corners. The front side displays a central circular medallion embossed with the text THE TRAVELERS INSURANCE COMPANY. HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT. TICKET DEPARTMENT. The reverse side features a matching decorative border surrounding a central shield-shaped crest containing a stylized TIC monogram.
