Description
This lot features three vintage metal tobacciana collectibles. The first item is a hammered metal matchbook sleeve with a brass-toned finish, featuring an applied shield-shaped plaque in a silver-toned metal. The plaque depicts the historic House of the Seven Gables in relief and is inscribed HOUSE OF SEVEN GABLES at the top and SALEM, MASS. below the image. The second item is a hammered silver-toned metal matchbook sleeve commemorating the 1936 Great Lakes Exposition. The applied shield-shaped plaque features a map of the Great Lakes region and is inscribed Great Lakes EXPOSITION at the top and 1936 CLEVELAND along the bottom edge. A vintage matchbook is visible inside the sleeve, showing text from Over Enterprises, Syracuse, NY. The third item is a flip-top windproof lighter in the style of mid-century Siam silver souvenir pieces. The case features high-relief repouss? decoration on all sides. The front lid depicts the three-headed elephant deity Erawan, while the front body shows a mythological dancer or deity set against a background of radiating lines. The reverse lid features a seated figure, and the reverse body depicts a large caparisoned elephant. A standard metal windproof insert is present inside the case.
