Description
This oil on stretched canvas depicts a rainy street scene in Copenhagen, Denmark, looking down K?bmagergade toward the iconic Round Tower Rundet?rn visible in the background. The composition includes the prominent architecture of the former Messen department store building. Executed in a mid-century impressionistic style, the work utilizes a muted palette of grays, blues, and earthy tones with textured brushwork to illustrate light reflecting off the wet pavement. Pedestrians with umbrellas, a cyclist, and vintage automobiles are depicted throughout the scene. The painting is signed Lis Bjergsted. in red paint in the lower right corner.
