Lot 164:
Description
A Civil War Era U.S. percussion rifled musket manufactured at the Springfield Armory and dated 1863 on the lockplate. Standard eagle motif over U.S. Springfield marking, with iron mounts, two-barrel bands, and walnut stock. The Model 1863 was the principal infantry arm used by Union troops during the American Civil War, and this example remains in original yet fair to good condition. The metal shows dark patina with scattered pitting. The wood is scratched and dinged in various spots.
