Description

This lot features an outstanding and complete example of a German Model 1935 M35 Double Decal Combat Helmet issued to the Luftwaffe German Air Force. The M35 is highly desirable, recognizable by its rolled shell edge and separate ventilation grommets.

The helmet shell was manufactured by Emaillierwerke Fulda EF in the highly sought-after large size 66, clearly stamped EF66 on the interior skirt. The lot number, stamped into the rear interior, is 13198. The exterior retains its smooth dark blue-gray factory paint finish, correct for early-war Luftwaffe issue, showing light honest wear, scuffing, and minor areas of surface rust, confirming its genuine veteran status.

Both original, period-applied decals are well-preserved:

On the wearer s left side is the Luftwaffe Eagle Decal. This striking gold/yellow decal is exceptionally detailed and is estimated to be approximately 95% intact, displaying the flying eagle clutching the swastika. On the wearer s right side is the National Colors Shield decal Black, White, and Red. This decal shows minor chipping but is clearly visible and estimated to be approximately 85-90% intact.

The interior is complete with its original, early-war aluminum liner band and the perforated brown leather liner. The leather shows heavy use, drying, and darkening from age, but all tongues appear present and secured by the original drawstring. Crucially, the helmet retains its original brown leather chinstrap which is affixed to the liner band. The chinstrap is complete with its aluminum buckle and displays appropriate aging and wear.

This M35 Double Decal Luftwaffe helmet is a premium collectorÕs piece, combining a desirable early model, a scarce manufacturer EF, a large size 66, and the exceptional preservation of both original decals and the complete liner/chinstrap system.
