Lot 194:
Named to Bombadier Lt. Fredrick D Worthen of the 8th AF 93rd Bombing Group. This Grouping is incredibly large and holds a lot of documentation from years of research Worthen obtained to write a book. Worthen was shot down during WW2 and was a POW in Dulag-Luft West. The first 2 pictures are what’s part of this group. Worthen would interview many people over the years who were a part of the POW camp, His fellow Airmen, and detail this experience in his "Against All Odds" book. Some highlights of this grouping are listed below. 1. 4 Pocket officers jacket with British-made Wings, Ribbon bar, and British-made felt patch.2. Green undershirt featuring a stunning bullion 8th AF patch.3. German Butter Knife and Spoon from the POW Camp. 4. 93rd bomb group yearbook (later edition. 1980’s) and bombardment information file book with his id. 5. Extensive research of over 10 binders. These binders contain years of correspondence, personal notes, letters to historians, etc all used to write his book. The squadron patches appear to be reproductions or association / reunion-type patches. The purple heart case is empty. The shirt does have some moth holes as well.
