Description
Extremely RARE 20 x 24 original acrylic on board painting from artist , Victor Olson. This is the ORIGINAL artwork produced for the rollout of the ASPB Mark II in 1969. The ASPB was a Riverine Assault boat used in the Brown Water Navy in Vietnam. Olson produced illustrations for books and magazines and was the official artist for Sikorsky Helicopters in Connecticut. In addition to producing artwork for the Sikorsky factory for use in brochures for Government contracts, his artwork was used to produce prints for Sikorsky employees. Three prototypes of the ASPB II were built, one by Sikorsky. The company did win the contract but due to wind down in Vietnam they never went into production. The one survivor was used for Special Forces training until 1980.
