Here is a great example of a WWII USMS Mariner’s medal in the case of issue. The medal has a heavy gold washed silver pendant with silver disks inserted in the center of the stylized cross. The drape is suspended by a crimp brooch. There is one small crease near the very top of the drape, but it really doesn’t detract from the medal. It comes in the pebbled leatherette covered wood case. The case is lined in dark blue silk with a navy velvet covered pad. The great thing about these USMS cases is that they fold out to a triangular shape to allow the medal to be prominently displayed. This is a rather striking medal and with the case, it displays nicely. They really don’t come up for sale very often.
