Lot 196:
Description
One of the more interesting pieces of clothing from WWII, and one often missing from even advanced collections, is the jungle boot. Made of olive drab canvas with a molded rubber tread and top cap, these boots were high topped, and light weight. Additionally, they did not rot in the steamy jungles like leather did. This pair displays very well. There are no holes or signs of damage to the canvas. The rubber soles are stiff, but not cracked. There is some rubber flaking to the toe caps. I have seen these repaired with black paint to camouflage the condition. These boots are approximately a size ten. Each boot retains a single boot lace. The boots were issued with two laces per, but the second late was often discarded by the veteran. While these boots are in a great displayable condition, we will not warrantee them if someone were to wear them. They will not hold up to being worn.
