Description
This authentic WWII-era A-2 flight jacket, manufactured by Bronco, is a desirable Size 44 and named to Lt. M.R. Schwartz, service number O-650263. The leather remains in very good condition—still pliable with a rich, aged patina.The knit cuffs and waistband may be period replacements, skillfully applied and showing appropriate age and wear. The original leather name strip identifying Lt. Schwartz is partially detached but unquestionably authentic to the jacket. Traces of a once direct-painted squadron or group insignia are visible on the left chest, though now faded and indistinguishable—adding to the mystique and originality of this piece.Notably, the jacket features leather Lieutenant bars on each shoulder, further confirming its wartime use. According to available records, Lt. Schwartz was stationed at Amarillo Army Air Field as of June 1944, likely in a training or instructor role during this critical phase of the war.An excellent and honest example of a named A-2 jacket with research potential and period modifications consistent with in-theater wear. A fine addition to any WWII aviation collection.
