December 7th Militaria and Aviation Auction
Lot 116:
Description
German World War II SS Dress Bayonet, complete with its original scabbard and leather frog. While superficially resembling a standard K98 dress bayonet, this specific piece is identified by its official RZM markings , indicating manufacture and approval by the Reichszeugmeisterei, the central procurement office for Nazi party organizations, confirming its use by the Schutzstaffel SS. The bayonet features a sleek, bright nickel-plated steel blade with a drop point, clearly marked with the manufacturer s trademark: ROBERT KLAAS SOLINGEN, featuring the iconic crane logo. The hilt has nickel-plated fittings, a prominent swept-back crossguard, and black checkered grip scales. The bayonet is housed in its original black painted steel scabbard, which fits securely into the black leather frog. The RZM stamp and the specific bayonet features confirm its intended use by SS personnel for ceremonial and parade duties. Items bearing RZM markings and SS provenance are profoundly scarce and among the most sought-after pieces of Third Reich militaria.
