December 7th Militaria and Aviation Auction
Lot 123:
Description
German military binoculars from the World War II era, clearly identified as Carl Zeiss D.F. 7×50 . The binoculars bear the military designation Flak. Kste, indicating they were issued to German anti-aircraft Flak units or Kstenartillerie coastal artillery units, essential observers for identifying Allied aircraft and naval movements. The body of the binoculars features a dark gray/black textured finish with metal fittings and shows significant signs of period wear, including visible paint loss and patina that highlights the base metal, consistent with field use. The optics are of high quality, as expected from the prestigious Carl Zeiss Jena manufacturer, featuring the large 7×50 objective lenses necessary for observation in varying light conditions. The survival of these combat-used, German-marked field optics makes this a highly desirable piece of World War II militaria and optical equipment history. Fair Condition: rubber eyecups – I missing, 1 poor. Black coating on bottom of right barrell missing. Lenses still very good.
