Description

This is a rare and exceptionally complete example of a U.S. Army Air Corps hand-powered flashlight, known as the Lamp Assembly, Flashlight Hand Energized, Type A-9, presented in its original packaging. This specialized flashlight was designed for airmen and ground crew, eliminating the need for batteries by generating light through squeezing the handle. The light is housed in its original olive drab plastic casing, which is clearly marked DACO II and stamped with the critical information TROPICALIZED JANUARY 1945, confirming its late-war manufacture and readiness for deployment to the humid Pacific and Asian theaters. The original box retains its detailed military contract label, which specifies the Specification No. 32434 and Type A-9, listing the manufacturer as DAYTON ACME CO., CINCINNATI 14, OHIO. The inclusion of the original brown cardboard box with the clear contract label and the flashlight s late-war tropicalized date stamp makes this an outstanding, museum-quality artifact of U.S. Army Air Corps wartime equipment. Unissued in original box.
