Description

Model 1942 M42 Single Decal Combat Helmet, presented in relic condition. The M42 helmet shell is recognizable by its raw, unrolled edge, a late-war manufacturing simplification designed to save time and materials. The exterior retains its original field gray or dark green paint, now heavily covered in surface rust and deep patina consistent with being recovered from a battlefield or long-term outdoor storage. Crucially, the helmet retains a remnant of its original Wehrmacht Heer Army Decal on the left side, featuring the standard eagle clutching the swastika, confirming its use by the German Army. The interior is in extremely poor condition, showing heavy rust and decay to the metal liner band, leather components, and chinstrap remnants , indicating that the helmet was likely recovered from a harsh environment, such as a swamp, trench, or field burial. This piece, while a relic, holds significant historical value as a direct, unmodified artifact of WWII combat.
