Description
Luftschutz Gladiator Style Air Raid Helmet used by members of the German Air Protection League. This lightweight helmet is characterized by its shallow crown and its distinctive, broad, multi-stage visor and flared rim, resembling the look of an ancient gladiator s helmet. The shell retains its original black or dark blue finish and is adorned with the prominent decal for the Luftschutz , featuring a stylized winged device surrounding a central swastika, confirming its civil defense provenance. Crucially, the interior of the helmet features stamped markings RL2-39/42 and the text Vertrieb genehmigt gem§ ¤ 8 Luftschutzgesetz Distribution approved according to ¤ 8 Air Protection Law, which are official markings of the Reichsluftschutzbund and confirm its period issue. The interior liner is made of leather, which shows cracking and degradation consistent with age and storage, but its presence and the clear exterior decal make this a superior example of German air raid protection gear.
