Description

World War II Era US Army Officer Service Cap Crusher Cap, suitable for wear with the tropical or summer khaki uniform. This style of cap was preferred by officers, including aviators, for its distinctive soft crown.

The cap is constructed from Khaki/Tan twill or gabardine fabric and features a full, soft crown and a high-gloss brown leather visor. The front is adorned with the large, bright gold-toned Officers Eagle Insignia, featuring the US Great Seal eagle, confirming commissioned officer status. The hat features a woven gold and olive drab cord band, indicating a general officer or a higher grade field officer depending on the pattern. A brown leather chinstrap is secured by two small gold-toned buttons, typically stamped with the US Great Seal. The cap retains its original shape with a characteristic crush in the crown.

The interior provides clear manufacturer provenance. The cap features a perforated brown leather sweatband and a bright orange-gold satin lining that is stamped with the manufacturer s diamond logo. The lining is legible, identifying the cap as MANUFACTURED BY SUPERIOR UNIFORM CAP CO., 334 South Wells Street, CHICAGO, confirming a period US supplier. The overall condition is excellent, showing minimal service wear and vibrant colors, making it an ideal piece for display.
