Description

Original US Army M4A2 Tanker Helmet complete with a separate, attached anti-flak goggle assembly, and clear soldier provenance. The M4A2 helmet was the standard protective headgear for US Army armored crews during World War II.
The helmet is constructed of heavy olive drab OD canvas or duck cloth over a webbing and hard frame, designed for crash protection and communications integration within the cramped confines of tanks. The exterior is fitted with a specialized, hinged steel goggle assembly which is attached and included with the helmet. This assembly is painted OD and features multiple horizontal ventilation slots to prevent fogging, providing wind and dust protection. The helmet shell retains its original OD color, showing light field wear and patina.
The interior provides outstanding, complete provenance. The helmet retains its original manufacturerÕs specification tag, which is clearly legible and reads HELMET M4 A2 with a drawing number and contract information, confirming its late-WWII pattern. Crucially, the interior dome is personalized with the soldierÕs handwritten name and serial number: PERRY BURGESS 23449725. The helmet is complete with its original adjustable leather and canvas chinstrap harness, which is affixed via snaps and buckles, all showing appropriate aging.

The combination of the scarce M4A2 model, the inclusion and attachment of the steel goggle system, the original manufacturerÕs tag, and the definitive provenance provided by the named owner Perry Burgess, makes this a premium piece of WWII US Army armored forces history.
