Description

US Navy Coveralls, Flying, Men s, Mark 2, often referred to as the Mark 2 Flight Suit. This model was a direct predecessor to the iconic K-2B and was designed for high-visibility and functionality.

The coveralls are constructed from heavy synthetic fabric in the vibrant Indian Orange color, a high-visibility shade used for search and rescue purposes over water. The suit features a full-length heavy-duty zipper closure and numerous functional zippered pockets on the chest, sleeves, and legs, characteristic of pilot flight gear.

Crucially, the suit retains its original manufacturer s specification tag which is clearly legible and provides excellent provenance. The tag identifies the suit as BUAER U.S. NAVY COVERALLS, FLYING, MEN S INDIAN ORANGE, with the specification SPEC: NAVY DEPT P/D 2-24-59, confirming a definitive early Cold War 1959 manufacturing date. The suit is marked SIZE 44L and names the manufacturer as BUAER. The overall condition is excellent, showing minor wear and fading, but retaining its sharp color and functional zippers. This flight suit represents a key transitional period in US Navy aviation uniform development.
