Description

Authentic Vietnam War Era Viet Cong VC Black Pajama Uniform and Scarf
This lot features a rare and authentic set of Vietnam War Era Viet Cong VC or North Vietnamese Army NVA Black Pajama Uniform __ Bˆ Ba with an accompanying scarf. These simple, lightweight uniforms were the iconic clothing of Viet Cong guerrillas and were also widely used by NVA forces operating in South Vietnam due to their suitability for jungle and rice paddy conditions.
The uniform consists of a matching tunic/shirt and trousers, constructed from a thin, likely cotton or cotton-blend fabric. The original color was black or a very dark indigo, but the uniform has faded dramatically to a dark, smoky gray-brown due to sun exposure, repeated washing, and heavy field use, which is a key indicator of authenticity. The tunic features a simple stand-up collar and a row of functional buttons, along with two simple patch pockets near the waist. The trousers are a simple, drawstring or elastic-waist design with straight legs, also showing extreme fading.
The uniform set displays extensive, genuine field wear, including heavy wrinkling, thinness of the fabric, and visible signs of distress, confirming its veteran status. Accompanying the uniform is an original plaid or checkered scarf which was commonly worn by VC and NVA troops for neck protection, wiping sweat, or as an informal identity marker. The simplicity and heavy wear of this uniform set provide a powerful, tangible connection to the forces that fought on the communist side of the Vietnam War.
