Lot 3:
Description
This varied lot presents a unique collection of US Army Insignia, focusing heavily on the Medical Corps and the Transportation Corps, with the inclusion of several Finance Corps specialty items. The entire collection comprises approximately 50 individual pieces, offering a strong specialization for a niche collector.
A large portion of the collection is dedicated to the Medical Corps, featuring numerous examples of the Caduceus insignia, the symbol of the Army Medical Department. These include multiple brass-tone and black-tone pins and buttons, representing collar insignia and uniform buttons for officers and enlisted personnel. Also present are MD and CDC collar letters, further identifying medical and specialized health service branches.
The collection also contains numerous examples of the Transportation Corps insignia, symbolized by the wheel and ship s wheel design. These include several brass-tone and one silver-tone button or pin, with some identified by original collectors notes. The inclusion of the Finance Corps is confirmed by the presence of several uniform buttons, some explicitly identified as US ARMY FINANCE CORPS. Rank insignia is represented by six distinct diamond-shaped pins in both brass and silver finishes, corresponding to the rank of First Sergeant or certain branch distinctions. Additional items include three separate star pins, likely specialized rank or challenge coins, and a larger embroidered patch featuring a colorful star and wreath design. The collection is completed by various unissued and issued uniform buttons in different sizes, all showcasing the complexity of US Army uniform hardware.
