Description
This valuable print commemorates the 40th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain Summer 1940 and features the iconic Supermarine Spitfire Mk Ia coded DV-K, P9386 of No. 609 Squadron RAF. Its primary historical significance lies in the numerous original signatures it carries from members of The FewÑthe Allied airmen who defended Britain during that critical campaign. Among the highly recognizable autographs are those of famous fighter aces such as J. E. Johnnie Johnson, the highest-scoring RAF ace of the war, and R. H. Bob Tuck, a key leader during the Battle of Britain. Other notable signatories often include Geoffrey Wellum, pilot with No. 92 Squadron and author of the memoir First Light, and A. J. M. Sandy Johnstone of No. 602 Squadron.
