Description
A collection of hardcover volumes by and about J.R.R. Tolkien, featuring various editions of his primary fiction and scholarly biographical texts. The group includes a red faux-leather bound edition of The Lord of the Rings housed in a matching red textured slipcase. Two collector editions of The Hobbit are present: one bound in dark green leatherette with gilt and red stamped runes on the spine published by Houghton Mifflin Company, and a 50th anniversary edition bound in gold-toned cloth. The lot also features a large-format 1977 illustrated edition of The Hobbit published by Harry N. Abrams, Inc., featuring artwork from the Rankin/Bass animated production. Additional titles include the childrens story Mr. Bliss, Finn and Hengest: The Fragment and the Episode edited by Alan Bliss, Humphrey Carpenters Tolkien: The Authorized Biography, and Clyde S.
