Description
A Hillerich and Bradsby wood baseball bat featuring the Champion No. 8 model center brand stamp. The item is manufactured in Louisville, Kentucky, and constructed from turned wood with a polished finish. The barrel bears a handwritten signature in black ink identifying it as a Lou Gehrig. However, we believe this is not his autograph and should be purchased with full knowledge of this information. The center brand includes the text Hillerich and Bradsby, Made in USA, Champion No. 8, and Louisville, KY. The knob features an incised X and other weathered characters.
Condition: The bat shows signs of age and use consistent with its vintage. The wood displays a warm finish with prominent grain. There are several deep vertical gouges located around the center brand and surface checking near the barrel end. The characters on the knob are faint and weathered.
