Description
This is an authentic World War II era AN-74A aircraft antenna mast manufactured by AIRACO (Aircraft Accessories Corp.) for the US Army Air Corps. This model of antenna was a component of the SCR-522 radio system and was utilized on various military aircraft including the B-17 and B-25 bombers. The mast features a streamlined, tapered design. The lower mounting section is constructed from a reddish-brown phenolic or resin-impregnated laminate material. The upper blade section is finished in military olive drab paint. The base of the mast bears stenciled black lettering reading ANTENNA / MAST / AN-74-A and a blue and white winged manufacturer decal with the text AIRACO. The item is accompanied by its original cardboard shipping and storage box. The box features black stenciled nomenclature including NXSA-17431 / AN-74A MAST ANTENNA on the left side and US ARMY / AIR CORPS on the right side.
