Description

A World War II era United States Marine Corps M1941 knapsack, identified as the upper pack component of the standard USMC field equipment system. The pack is constructed from heavy-duty khaki OD number 3 cotton duck canvas. The design includes a large main compartment with internal dividers and an exterior side pocket secured by a black-finished snap fastener. The top flap is secured by two vertical webbing straps featuring metal tips and friction buckles. The reverse of the pack is fitted with adjustable shoulder straps and mounting hardware designed for integration with a lower cargo pack or combat suspenders.Markings include a large black U.S.M.C. stencil on the interior of the main flap. The exterior of the flap features the handwritten name Tully in dark ink. An internal manufacturer stamp on the body of the pack reads BOYT – 44 -, CONT., and NOM – 41159. The NOM prefix indicates a Navy Department contract specifically for Marine Corps equipment, produced by the Boyt Harness Company in 1944.
