Description

This Imperial German M1915 Ersatz spiked helmet, also known as a Filzhelm, features a one-piece body constructed of pressed wool felt in a field-gray and tan hue. The helmet is equipped with a brass-colored metal Prussian infantry front plate, or Wappen, which depicts an eagle holding a scepter and orb. The eagle’s chest displays the FR monogram for Fredericus Rex, and the banner across the wings is inscribed MIT GOTT FUR KOENIG UND VATERLAND. The helmet is fitted with a non-removable brass spike featuring circular ventilation holes at the neck, mounted on a circular base and secured with four rivets. The front visor is finished with a brass metal reinforcement rim. The helmet retains two side-mounted cockades: the National colors of black, white, and red on the wearer’s right, and the Prussian state colors of black and white on the wearer’s left. The interior contains steel attachment discs and split-pin hardware. Stitching holes are visible along the inner rim where the liner was previously attached.
