Description

Extremely Rare German WWII M35 Double Decal Hitlerjugend HJ Helmet with Chinstrap and NamingThis lot features an extremely rare and desirable German helmet: a Model 1935 M35 Double Decal Combat Helmet configured for the Hitlerjugend HJ or Hitler Youth. The M35 model is highly sought after, distinguished by its rolled shell edge and separate ventilation grommets. The helmet shell is believed to be a large size, evidenced by the generous profile and the visible head size painted inside. It retains its original smooth, dark factory paint finish, likely dark blue-gray, appropriate for early-war organizational helmets, showing light wear, scuffing, and minor pitting consistent with age. Crucially, the helmet features two distinct, period-applied organizational decals:On the wearer’s left side is the National Colors Shield decal Black, White, and Red, which is estimated to be approximately 85% intact and clearly visible. On the wearer’s right side is the scarce Hitler Youth Diamond Decal, featuring the red, white, and black diamond with the central swastika. This decal is also well-preserved, estimated to be approximately 90% intact. The combination of the National Colors and the HJ Diamond on an M35 shell is the correct configuration for this rare unit. The interior is complete with its original, early-war aluminum liner band and the perforated brown leather liner. The leather shows heavy use, drying, and darkening from age, but all tongues appear present and secured by the original drawstring. A significant and collectible feature is the clear, hand-painted soldier/owner identification inside the rear skirt: L. Wh. Munsch. L. Wh. likely stands for Landwacht Land Guard, suggesting this helmet was used by an auxiliary unit or home-defense formation staffed by Hitler Youth members later in the war. The helmet retains its original brown leather chinstrap, which is embossed with the marking 0/0750/0100, an organizational code. The chinstrap is complete with its aluminum buckle and displays appropriate aging. This M35 Double Decal Hitler Youth helmet is a premium and rare artifact, combining the desirable M35 model, two key organizational decals, a unique unit/owner naming, and the presence of the original chinstrap.
