This lot features a personalized and combat-decorated United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) Type A-2 leather flight jacket manufactured by Bronco Mfg. Corp. of New York. The jacket is identified to Lt. Don Allen Duvall, a B-24 Liberator pilot who served with the 732nd Bombardment Squadron, 453rd Bombardment Group, 8th Air Force. The garment is constructed of brown leather with a tan cotton internal lining and features a metal Talon brand zipper. The interior neck retains the original manufacturer label: TYPE A-2, DRAWING NO. 30-1415, A.C. NO. W 535 ac 29191, PROPERTY AIR FORCE U.S. ARMY, BRONCO MFG. CORP., NEW YORK, N.Y.The front of the jacket features hand-painted detailing including the name DON in yellow with blue shadowing on the right breast. The left breast displays the hand-painted 732nd Bombardment Squadron insignia, depicting a black bird of prey clutching a red swastika, set against a blue and white shield with winged star pilot wings and a scroll reading ATTACK AND DESTROY. The left shoulder bears a painted 8th Air Force insignia, while the right shoulder features a sewn rectangular fabric patch with horizontal green and yellow stripes.The reverse of the jacket displays extensive hand-painted artwork. Arched across the top is the name JUGHEAD in yellow. The center features a depiction of a B-24 Liberator bomber in flight above three rows of yellow bomb mission markers, totaling 21 missions. The base of the back is painted with the pilot’s origin, Kokomo, Ind. The jacket is accompanied by a research binder documenting the service history of Lt. Don Allen Duvall (1921?2017), noting his completion of 35 combat missions.
