Spring Military Aviation and Militaria Auction
Lot 358:
Description
A collection of four vintage United States military utility garments spanning the WWII and Korean War periods. The group includes one USMC P-1953 utility shirt, two M-1943 herringbone twill (HBT) utility jackets, and one mid-century four-pocket utility jacket. The USMC P-1953 shirt is constructed from olive drab cotton sateen and features two chest pockets with button-down flaps; the left chest pocket features a black screen-printed Eagle, Globe, and Anchor (EGA) emblem over the stenciled initials USMC. The two M-1943 jackets are composed of sage green herringbone twill cotton and feature two large pleated chest pockets. One M-1943 jacket features the stenciled name HOFFMAN JR. above the right chest pocket, while the other retains a white size tag in the collar marked 38R. The fourth garment is a dark olive drab cotton sateen jacket featuring a four-pocket design with two chest pockets and two lower pockets, secured with dark plastic buttons. This garment represents a transitional design between WWII-era herringbone twill and later OG-107 uniforms.
