Highlighted by an incredible Original 355th Fighter Group, 354th Fighter Squadron taken in Philadelphia in June 1943 before the squadron and Fighter Group was posted to England. A great photo of the pilots and ground crew. A large photo ? 13? by 10?. Also includes: WWII scrapbook from a US soldier, PFC Clarence Thompson Jr. that likely enjoyed his duty in London based on all of the highlights included in the scrapbook. These include ticket stubs to The Royal Albert Hall, London Symphony Orchestra, Madame Tussauds Exhibition, The Palladium, Westminster Abbey Christmas and New Years Services program, December 1943 and January 1944. Also postcards, photos and cool articles and photos of Thompson in the BBC studios broadcasting. There are also photos in Paris. A really interesting wartime archive that deserves more research. The Stars and Stripes Newspaper ?Middle East? Cairo dated May 28 1943. Article about the 57th Fighter Group success with the Palm Sunday victory when they downed dozens of Nazi planes. Lots of other great wartime stories and photos. British Daily Sketch newspaper dated Thursday August 29 1940, so in the heat of the Battle of Britain. Great cover stories and photos. The War Illustrated newspaper / magazine dated November 1 1940. Great article with photos of the American Eagle Squadron pilots. Also a great article and photos about the Battle of Britain pilots about ?The Few?.
