Description
This is an original black and white photograph from the World War II era, circa 1941 to 1945. The image depicts a line of Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter aircraft stationed on an airfield in an arid, sandy environment, consistent with the North African, Mediterranean, or China-Burma-India theaters. In the foreground, United States Army Air Forces ground crew members in standard fatigue uniforms are shown operating specialized multi-wheeled bomb trailers. A light utility vehicle is positioned in the mid-ground on the right, equipped with a pedestal-mounted machine gun. A circular marking containing the numbers 239 is visible on the rear panel of the utility vehicle. The photograph is a period silver gelatin print.
