Description
This is an original theatrical lobby card from the 1950 release of Walt Disney’s Treasure Island, the studio’s first fully live-action feature film based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. The lithographed card depicts Robert Newton in his iconic role as Long John Silver and Bobby Driscoll as Jim Hawkins in a galley scene. The artwork features the vibrant color palette characteristic of the Technicolor process and period-specific typography. The card includes the following printed marks at the bottom: Copyright 1950 RKO Radio Pictures Inc. Country of Origin U.S.A. in the lower left; Color by TECHNICOLOR in the lower center; and Distributed by RKO Radio Pictures, Inc. in the lower right. Fine print on the bottom right corner identifies the card as property of the National Screen Service Corp., licensed for theatrical display only. The numerical sequence 50 / 414 is printed in the lower right corner with a small numeral 4 above it, identifying this as the fourth card in the promotional set. 11 x 14 inches.
