A Collection of volumes by and about J.R.R. Tolkien, including deluxe editions and biographical works primarily published by Houghton Mifflin Company HMCo and Harry N. Abrams. The lot includes a red leatherette-bound one-volume edition of The Lord of the Rings HMCo featuring a gilt and blue-stamped design of the White Tree of Gondor and Seven Stars, housed in a matching red slipcase. Two editions of The Hobbit are present: a green leatherette collector edition with red and gold runic borders and a central mountain landscape, and a gold leatherette 50th Anniversary edition 1987 with green runic borders, both in original slipcases. The collection also features The Hobbit: An Illustrated Edition Harry N. Abrams, 1977, SBN 8109-1060-8 , a large-format quarto containing illustrations from the Rankin/Bass animated production by artists including Lester Abrams, Robert Jones, and Charles Vess. Additional titles include Finn and Hengest: The Fragment and the Episode edited by Alan Bliss HMCo, 1983 in a dust jacket; Tolkien: The Authorized Biography by Humphrey Carpenter HMCo, 1977 in a dust jacket; Mr. Bliss HMCo, 1982 in pictorial boards; and a paperback edition of Tolkien – The Silmarillion by Clyde S. Kilby HMCo, 1976 .
