Description
This early 20th-century evening bag is constructed with multi-colored glass micro-beads on a black ground. The exterior design features five distinct floral medallions depicting roses and mixed bouquets in shades of pink, red, yellow, and orange with green foliage. The lower portion of the bag is finished with a scalloped border in vibrant blue and green beadwork. The bag is mounted to a dark amber-toned celluloid frame designed to simulate tortoiseshell, featuring a large stylized tab closure and two metal loops at the corners for an optional chain or strap. The interior is lined with lavender silk fabric, finished with blue ruched silk trim, and includes small slip pockets. This style of beadwork and frame is consistent with European manufacture from the 1910s to the 1920s. No maker’s marks or labels are present.
