Lot 53:
Description
A pair of rectangular metal storage cases designed for double-edge safety razor blades. Each case consists of a two-part telescoping slide mechanism. The front of each case features a semi-circular recessed thumb grip, and one side of each unit is designed with a series of parallel vertical ribs. The underside of each case is stamped with the manufacturer mark G I L L E T T E / B L A D E S. The cases are constructed from plated metal, likely nickel or silver over a brass base, showing a warm metallic tone. Included with the cases are vintage double-edged razor blades in their original green paper wrappers. These wrappers display decorative scrollwork surrounding a portrait of the company founder, King C. Gillette, and are printed with the text GILLETTE BLADE and MADE IN U.S.A. This style of casing and packaging is characteristic of Gillette production from the early to mid-20th century.
