Description

Original WWII-era Soviet Red Army officer/command staff leather belt, featuring the distinctive M1935-pattern brass buckle with a large raised five-pointed star and central hammer-and-sickle emblem. The buckle is constructed in heavy brass with an open rectangular frame surrounding the finely detailed Soviet star. Radiating lines decorate the arms of the star, while the circular center displays the hammer and sickle against a textured background. This style of buckle was associated with officers and command personnel of the Red Army during the prewar and World War II period. Comparable museum examples are dated to the period before 1945. The belt itself is constructed of substantial dark-brown leather with stitched edges and decorative reinforcement stitching. It retains its original brass adjustment stud, multiple sizing holes, and opposite-end fastening hardware. Overall length is approximately 43–44 inches as photographed. The leather exhibits extensive period wear, including surface crazing, finish loss, edge wear, scuffs, and areas of dryness, while remaining substantially intact. The brass buckle has developed an attractive mellow patina with scattered scratches and handling marks consistent with age and service use.
