U.S. Merchant Marine Group Named Dog Tags, Shoulder Boards & Insignia. This maritime grouping is named to Beverly R. Perin via two USMS dog tags stamped BEVERLY R. PERIN / 4405-03714 / T8-44 / USMS / A. Included are four black shoulder boards with two gold braid stripes and gold bullion devices (ship’s wheel and fouled-anchor pairs) with fouled-anchor buttons; Merchant Marine officer’s cap badge (eagle, shield, crossed anchors); U.S. Maritime Service pin; SUP wheel pin; approx. ten fouled-anchor buttons; two ribbon bars; red/black braided cord; and Sailors’ Union of the Pacific 1885-1985 centennial buckle ("STEADY AS SHE GOES / BROTHERHOOD OF THE SEA") with related West Coast Sailors explanatory paper. Age wear and patina throughout. Indicates U.S. Maritime Service association in the 1940s; later SUP buckle is a 1985 commemorative addition.
