Lot 96:
Description
U.S. WWII-pattern BAR ammunition rig comprising a six-pocket M1937 magazine belt, adjustable M1936-pattern web suspenders, and two attached canvas accessory pouches. Constructed in khaki and olive-drab cotton canvas and webbing, with metal adjustment fittings, suspension hooks, and flap fasteners. A photographed belt marking appears to read “BOYT 42,” indicating Boyt manufacture in 1942. “U.S.” markings remain visible, together with a faded identification stencil on one shoulder strap. The M1937 belt was designed to carry twelve 20-round Browning Automatic Rifle magazines, two in each of its six pockets. The assembled rig makes an effective display of American infantry equipment associated with the BAR gunner.
