Description
This is an official softcover report titled The United States Strategic Bombing Survey: The Effects of Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, published by the Chairman?s Office of the United States Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C., dated June 30, 1946. The quarto-sized publication is bound in light blue paper wraps featuring a black multi-line decorative border and a stapled binding. The title page contains the signatures and mission details of four crew members from the 509th Composite Group involved in the atomic bombing missions of August 1945. The signatures and inscriptions include: Capt. C D Albury, Co-Pilot of The Great Artiste (Hiroshima) and Bockscar (Nagasaki); Morris R. Jeppson, Weapon Test Officer on the Enola Gay; Theodore Dutch Van Kirk, Navigator on the Enola Gay; and Russell E. Gackenbach, Navigator on the Necessary Evil photo plane.
